Bombshell Bye-bye!

It's the end of the road for four of our beloved Bombshell Girls. They're stepping down from the Bombshell Design Team to pursue other dreams.

I wanted to thank them for devoting their time and talent to spread the word about Bombshell Stamps. Their work was truly inspirational. They will be sorely missed.

I asked them to choose one of their favorite Bombshell projects so we could showcase them one more time!

Here they are, in alphabetical order! I've linked their blogs with their names so you can add them to your blog rolls!

Please join me as I wish these lovely and über-talented ladies a fond farewell. I hope we'll continue to see their wonderful Bombshell projects!

March Hump Day Hop

Greetings and Salutations! It's your official Hump Day Hottie, Alison, and it's time for the March Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! I was in the mood for a color challenge...so I found a beautiful palette from http://design-seeds.com/ that I think you will enjoy.

Aren't these colors pretty? I thought it was perfect for those that wanted to go the St. Patrick's Day route, but not so green that the hoppers couldn't do something else.

The participants were to use at least 3 of the colors in the palette. But I was hoping they would go for the "gold" and try to use all five! I did! ;) They had to try to keep their colors as close as possible to those shown above. Color challenges are great, because you can make anything you want, any theme. I hope you get inspired by not only this palette, but by the fabulous Bombshell creations you are about to see. Here is the full hop list.

BBBBBB

Please leave some love for all of this month's participants. I will be back next Wednesday to announce the next Hump Day Hop theme. I hope you will play along with us next month! But fr now, enjoy this month's awesome hop!

Here's what Ms. March, Alex, has to say about her challenge:
Basically, I want you to add texture to your Bombshell creations. Use embossing, elements, pastes, fabrics, lace/ribbon, flock, textured papers, anything you want to make your creations beg to be touched.

Here's Ms. March's take on her own challenge:

Here are the projects by the Pin-ups and Bombshell Girls!

Wine Glass Lamp Shade

So as you all know I am a Pintrest addict, I admit it, and even if there were a 12 step program for it I am not sure I would attend it!!!  Anyway so the other day I am scrolling through and see these wine glasses with tea light candles in them and a lamp shade on it!  I think, huh, that’s pretty cool that would be awesome to do for an outside patio party, or a nice dinner where you just want to set the mood, you know or a way to use the 750 million wine/drink glasses you have because when you got married your sisters husband was an engineer at Libby glass and she took you shopping with his discount for one of your wedding presents!!!  Just sayin, I love my sister!!!!  :)  Anyway I digress, so I click on this pin to see what it’s all about and it is an advertisement for you to buy 10 of these little lamp shades for $15!!!!  I am not even gonna share the pin with you because that is just crazy talk right there!!  So I think ok I’m gonna google wine glass lamp shades to see if someone other than me thought it was redonkulous to spend that much money on something that I could make for ummmmmmm FREE!!!!!  Yep free, you know we all have stamp sets, we all have printer paper, we all have scissors, glue, and Vellum.  So anyway I google and come across several but they were all adapting real lamp shade to fit and that is all fine and dandy but not what I wanted.  So long story short I finally found a template here

Ok so on with the TUT!

Now quite honestly it took me 15 minutes after printing out the template to make both of these…I would suggest it you don’t want to worry about burn marks or soot marks that you use one of those battery powered tea lights.  I just can’t find mine right now!  I hope you enjoy!!!

Copic TIPS Tutorial

Hey there all. This is the finish of the tutorial I started last week. Last week I showed how I cut the image out, and this week I am showing some TIPS on how I colored it.  I call it Copic TIPS because well.. it is all about how to use the tips to add more color to an image. (DORKY I KNOW).

A lot of times when coloring, even if you have ALL the Copic colors, there is a large discrepancy between the two shades next to each other. When I color up the Skulls, I like to use very light colors, but ...add a bit of dark shading. But for instance the BG70 and BG72 are very different. One method is to pick up the darker color with the lighter one to result in a smear of the darker color in the lighter one.

There are many ways to go about grabbing the color... with the tip of a marker.

If you are new to Copics, sometimes the method of coloring on a plastic / acrylic surface with the darker color marker and then using the lighter marker to "pick it up" is the easiest to control.

Simply take the darker color and scribble on the surface of the transfer medium (I use a small stamp block). Then pick up the amount of color you want with the lighter marker.
Another way to do it is to use the TIP to TIP method. Swipe the darker marker with the lighter marker until you get the amount of color you want on the tip.

I use this method a lot. The other thing is to mix the two methods. You know all that LOVELY ink that gets gooped up on the plastic area of the tip or on the inside of the cap... the stuff that you think OMG it is so wasted. Ok... so maybe it is only me. You can use the same method to pick that ink up as your spare ink.

I feathered out from the areas I wanted shaded with the lighter marker. Then I added the darker color in and feathered out.
This technique is great for all sorts of uses. You can mix and match colors. Yellow picking up red for example. I also use it a lot when I want to feather really really light colors to nothing by using the blender marker and picking up one of the really light colors.

I used it in this part of the image to work my way lighter and lighter into the "candle light". So I started out light and colored with B91. Then I layered out toward the B97 on the outer edge. But I wanted the linear streaks so it looked like flickering candlelight. So would take B95 and pick up B97 and flick toward the center. Then I would grab B93 and pick up B95 with it and move more toward the center. Then repeat with the final B91 picking up B93.
Once done, I wrapped up the projectby layering it on the next two Nesties, and adding all my blingy bling.
I hope you found this tutorial just a little bit helpful and can use some of the TIPS provided.

Have an amazing weekend and come back soon!!!

Alaine :-)
