Tumbled Tile Coasters

Hey lovelies!!! Emily here!  Happy FRIDAY!!! I hope you have enjoyed the month of August... Is it just me and summer is just flying by us? Labor Day weekend!! Lots of sales and perfect timing for all of those who are considering applying for Bombshell Stamps Pin up to work on their submissions!! (Wink Wink!)... This is about the time where I realize, I need to start my stretch of Holiday projects. Recently I have been obsessed with making Christmas cards. For those who do not know... I have a personal goal of 500 cards for the non profit, Operation Write Home. (Ive got about 300 to go by October 31!) I am now taking the time to bust out the lovely Rose's Portrait to make some Tumbled Tile Coasters. My mom has been bugging me to make her some for her new house, and I figured this would be a perfect time to do a fun tutorial on this fun gift!

You will need the following items:
  • Tumbled Tiles (4x4, in a box from Lowe's or Home Depot)
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brushes
  • Cork board
  • Waterproof glue
  • Stazon Ink
  • White Gift Wrap Tissue paper
  • Alcohol ink markers
  • and of course the stamp of your choosing.

Wow, seems like a huge list!!

Step 1) Clean and Dry Tiles. Choose your best sets of Tiles... A lot of the tiles you buy in a set may have a lot of knooks and crannies. Some people like that look, but sometimes, they arent going to work with what youre doing. Once dry and clean, apply Mod Podge.

Step 2) Stamp images on tissue paper. Color, and trim to your liking.

Step 3) Apply images, and layer more mod podge. Try to go to the same direction to help prevent wrinkles and air bubbles. :)

Step 4) Cut Cork to the size of your tiles. Once Mod Podge is dry, you can apply cork. The cork I purchased, had adhesive on it, but I added more glue to make it stick. Typically I use Gorilla Glue, but to be quick I used tacky glue for the time being.

Step 5) Let dry. Dont be afraid to go crazy on the Mod Podge. You want to make sure they are protected really well against heat, and sweat from your beverages of choice to place on here! I also sometimes spray a varnish over the tops! The tiles were not completely dry, but close enough.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!
Much Love,
Emily

August Hump Day Hop: "Let's Hear it for the Boys"

Hello Bombshell Fans! Alison here. Alas, 'tis the end of Summer...more specifically, the last Wednesday in August, which means only one thing. It's time for the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. This month's theme is "Let's Hear it for the Boys." This could have been interpreted in many ways, and I am quite sure that the popular 80's song by Deneice Williams was bouncing around in the heads of more than a couple of our participants.

Did you know that this month is the 5th Anniversary for Bombshell Stamps? Happy Anniversary, Bombshell! I adore this company, and this team, so here's to another 5 years! And then some. Hopefully with me still on the team. But I digress......

Here is the full hop list. With a whopping 16 stops! You will visit some of the current Bombshell gals, a Pin-Up here and there, and even some of the retired Bombshells! Welcome, and a great big "thank you!" to all! Enjoy the hop! And please don't forget to stop back here on the first Wednesday of September to find out what the next theme is! Have a fantastic day!

ATG renovation

Hello lovelies, Kelli here today with not quite a tutorial but more of an Idea....

As most of you know I have an aversion to pink, I don't necessarily hate it but lets just say it's not my favorite color at all!  It doesn't quite fit in with the color scheme of the crafting dungeon either, which is grey, black, red and white.... So pink kind of sticks out a little.  Well my favorite glue gun of all is pink, my ATG, and it sits right out in the open with the rest of my favorite supplies that I use for everything and it really stuck out a lot!!!  So I am going to show you what I did to make my ATG fit into the scheme of things and tell you what I used to make it happen....the rest is up to you ! I know a lot of people love pink I am just not one of those people!!!!

So here is how I made this:

Sorry I borrowed this picture from a scrapbook store website because I didn't have any pictures of mine before!

Look like this:

Supplies I used were:

Black Gesso
Silver Paint Pen
E6000 Glue
Clear Acrylic Sealer
Clay (I used sculpey because that's what I had)
Stamp set(s):  I used Sacred Heart Art and Pin Stripes from Bombshell

I just painted the whole think with the black gesso, inside and out.  The inside mechanisms are easily removed.  While drying I stamped the hearts using Sacred Heart Art into the clay and baked them according to my package directions.  I used the silver paint pen to add the pinstripes and words by coloring my stamps with the paint pen then stamping.  Once that was done, I attached the baked clay with E6000 glue and dried.  Once dry I sprayed with my sealer and there you have it... a newly renovated ATG!!

Sugar skull

Today I worked with a sugar skull stamp. Bombshell stamps has a fantastic range of Sugar Skull stamps, you can see them HERE. Although we don't celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (day of the Death) here in the Netherlands, I love all the sugar skulls.
The image is coloured with Copic Markers.I did sew the border twice on a machine.I cut out the image and glued it on a black background made with a die.I stamped the swirls around, sponged the edges and glued it on a black card.

Ms. August's Challenge!

Jodi Elam, Ms. August, has challenged us to "Get Scrappy!"

Here's what she had to say about the challenge!
My challenge is for you to "Make It Scrappy!" which means, create a scrapbook page using your Bombshells. I'm actually more of a scrapbooker by nature, so I thought this would be fun. Your page can be anything from a 6x6 to a 12x12.
Have fun! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Remember that this month only, you don't have to use any Bombshell stamps on your challenge piece. However, if you do have 'em, use 'em and get two chances to win your choice of a free set!

Here's her page!

Here are the pages by the other Bombshell Girls and Pin-ups!

Alaine decided to scrap some Tattoo art using Sugar Skulls, Love and Luck and Hula Girl

Here is Rachael's scrap page. Rachael couldn't make up her mind, so she decided to go with everything nautical! :-D

Bombshells and Glassine

Hi All! It's me again, Ms. August!

I thought I'd share a technique I love....glassine! Tim Holtz introduced this last year and I LOVE this stuff. It really lends itself to vintage work. You can emboss it, stamp it, use Perfect Pearls on it, stain it, sand it,  you can even use Copics on it. Today I'm going to share the stamping, staining and distressing it.

You'll need a craft sheet (never leave home without it), this can get messy, archival ink, Distress Stain, a heat tool, a fabulous stamp set (I used my new fav Sugar Skulls) and of course some glassine.

 1. Cut your glassine to the size you want and stamp your image onto it with the archival ink. (You can use other color inks instead of black as long as it's archival.)

 2. You want to heat set your ink. Heating up the glassine embeds the ink into the paper by heating up the waxy coating.

 3. Next I like to ink my edges with Distress Inks and a blending tool. This step is optional.

 4. Now you get to have some fun and wad up the glassine. Squish it good so it has some nice wear to it. I love how it looks when you flatten it back out - like an old map or leather.

5. Take your favorite Distress Stain color and wipe it all over the glassine then take a paper towel and wipe the paper down to get the stain that doesn't stick off. The stain will get into all those "cracks" you made squishing it up. Using a brown will really make it look like leather. Since I'm going for a sort of Halloween feel, I used purple.

6. Finally, put it together on a card. It's great for a background to add some texture.

I hope you give it a try, then have your own fun with this great versatile paper. Enjoy!

Perfect Pearls and Sugar Skulls

Hola mi Amigos!
Ms. August here, I wanted to share a groovy little card I put together using my fun "Sugar Skulls" stamp set! I once saw someone use them for a really cool background - they had heat embossed them in either black or clear on black paper and it looked soooo cool (sorry I can't remember who it was, but I'd like to give credit where credit it due, please let me know :-). At any rate I decided to take it a step further. I embossed them on black, in black and then painted them using Perfect Pearls and a water brush. I love they way the turned out! That's why the card design is even more simple than usual, I didn't want to cover my skulls too much.

It's very simple to do:
1. Take a bit of the Perfect Pearls powder and put it on your craft sheet. (you won't need much at all, a little goes a looooonnnnnggg way).
2. Take a water brush and get the Perfect Pearls wet, getting on the brush just like paint.
3. Paint your image - since it's heat embossed, it's easy to stay in the lines. If you do get some of the emboss, just wipe it off with your finger, it will come right off.

Tada! I hope you decide to give it a whirl!

Jodi aka Ms. August :-)

Thank You Card

Hello! Alison here. It’s a beautiful day on Long Island! No humidity, the sun is shining, and my husband took the day off from work…so I am going to make this short and sweet! I recently got a couple of new (to me) sets from Bombshell Stamps. Two of them are Rose’s Portrait and Banner Sayings. I used both of these to make the card I am sharing with you today.

I used my “triple threat” mix of colored pencils, watercolor markers and Copics to color my focal image in. My kids love this set. They have asked me to stamp it out for them, so they can color it too. I think part of the reason is because her name is Rose, like their late grandmother. <3

I am looking forward to coloring her in a lot of different ways. I can see so many options for her makeup!

I used a stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop for my background. Colored with Distress Inks. It’s a simple card, but it’s pretty. That lovely portrait has such an impact, that you don’t need a lot of “fluff.” That’s all for today! I am going outside to enjoy this glorious day! Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Rosette Banner

Hello Lovelies, today I am sharing with you a tutorial for Bombshell stamps.  It’s a Rosette Banner made without using Dies.  Yeah I know there are dies out there but I don’t have them and it’s easy to make them without one so here we go!  This banner is going to be used for a Halloween decoration in my house so it is black and ivory to go with my black and white theme but feel free to use any colors you wish!

Supplies needed:
Paper Cutter
Paper Scorer
Hole Punches or circle cutters
Patterned paper ( i used Black and Ivory French Script from Canvas Corp)
Cardstock ( I used Black and Ivory)
Bombshell Images ( I used Sugar Daddy, Retro Cowgirl, Man’s Ruin, and the Halloween Costume Digital set)
Inks (Black Soot and Antique Linen distress inks used here)
Double sided tape ( I used red lined tape, just make sure it’s strong tape)

002 004 005 007 008 009 011 001 002 003 005 007  008 010011 012 013 014 015

If you want to hang it the way I did you are going to need 10 beads, 15 large jump rings and 12 small jump rings, 11 eyelets.  I put an eyelet into the bottom of the last rosette incase I wanted to add something there at a later date.  I didn’t have anything here now!

Hope you enjoy!!!
