Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Bombshells!

For this Halloween Treat Bag, Kim used Halloween Costume Bombshell Digital Stamps.

Kim also made a wall hanging using Mi Amor, Dead Necessities and the October Sketch.

Have you linked up your take on the October Sketch and Ms. October's Pin-Up Challenge?  There's still a few hours left to link up your Bombshell Creations!

Have a spooky, safe and happy Halloween!

You Can Do It!

I just had to play with this newly released digital stamp set from Bombshell Stamps - Rosie the Riveter.   It was released at the beginning of the month, so might as well finish off the month of October with Rosie.   I know it's taking a break from Fall and Halloween colors and stepping back to a patriotic color theme.  I hope you don't mind as it seems to suit Rosie just fine.

Ink: distress ink (Ranger/Tim Holtz)
Printed Paper: BoBunny.

October Hump Day Hop: Witching Hour

Hello! It's Alison, and I am excited to kick off this month's Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! October is my favorite month of the year, so of course I went with a Halloween theme. This month, we are celebrating the "Witching Hour." The witching hour is the time of night that witches, ghosts, and other supernatural creatures are said to appear. I wanted the hoppers to make a project based on the creatures that could be lurking during this time. Below is the full hop list. If you get lost along the way...don't look behind you! Just hurry right back here, and I'll get you back on track. Happy hopping, and an even happier Halloween!!!

Basic Bargello Background Tutorial

Hello Marnie here!  With a fun background technique to use up all those paper scraps.

Basic Bargello is fun and easy to do and creates a very impressive background or even focal point for a project.   All you need are some paper scraps (smaller print backgrounds work best) in colors you want to use for your finished project.  Some paper to layer on a paper trimmer and some really good adhesive.

First you want to start with your paper scraps and cut them into ¼” strips.  You could even do a little wider to modify your design.

Now that you have your strips you want to cover one layering sheet in adhesive.  And I mean REALLY cover it.  When you think you have enough adhesive on there add some more.  If you have a Xyron or other adhesive that lays down in sheets that will work really well.  After the adhesive is on, start laying down your strips in a pattern.  Put them as close together as possible.  Continue with the pattern until your paper is completely covered.

Trim away the strips hanging over the edge.

Now turn this piece 90 degrees to the right and trim it into ¼” strips.  Set out your strips in the order that you cut them as you cut them.  This is especially important if you are using paper with a pattern.

Cover another piece of layering paper with adhesive and begin laying down your strips in the order that you cut them.  Each time you set down a piece shift it over about 1/8” of an inch.  The larger the shift the more spikey your patter the less you shift you will get subtle waves.  After you go in one direction for awhile start to shift the pieces in the other to give the pattern your creating movement.

Once you’ve covered the entire piece of layering paper or run out of strips trim away the excess and cut your piece to it’s finished size.  Consider cutting it into a fun shape pattern or die cut.   Add the piece to your project and enjoy.

For the focal imagine on this card I have used Tattoo Background and a little black satin ribbon.

Enjoy playing around with this background.  Have a Happy Friday!

Wacky Holiday November- Punk for a Day!

Greetings, Bombshell Fans! Alison here with the latest installment of Wacky Holiday. Today is officially "Punk for a Day."

According to Holiday Insights,
When : Always October 25
Punk for a Day Day is today. Are you a punk? Would you like to be one? One might desire to be a Punk Rocker, but not literally a punk.So what then is the reason for this day!? We have absolutely no idea. And, we have found no information to shed light upon why this day was created, or how it is to be celebrated.

So although we may not know where this holiday started, or even why...I thought it may be a fun idea to celebrate it. Here's what some of the fabulous Bombshell Gals created.

Bombshell Angel

Kim here sharing a card today!  I submitted this card to a magazine for publication but it was rejected, which means I get to share it with all of you!

I transformed Bombshell Angel into a Steampunk Vampire.
Bombshell Angel has been inked up, stamped and colored with Copic markers.  Her dress, boots and gloves are from the Bombshell Clothing Die Cut Collection, cut out in black and patterned papers with my Silhouette Cameo.  Her hat was printed out, fussy cut and colored from Halloween Costume Digital Stamps.  The bats are from Holiday Accessory.
With my Silhouette Cameo, I cut out the coffin card base, moon, corset, and inside coffin files from SVGCuts "Elmhurst Hollow" SVG Kit. I thought this corset card would look great with Bombshell Angel.
I also stamped some of the bats from Holiday Accessory on the inside!
Here's the back of the card. I love this paper from Graphic45. I think this paper line looks fantastic with so many of the Bombshell stamp sets.

Happy Bombshell Craftin!

Fabulous Friday Tutorial - Filigree Sugar Skull Pendant

Hi Bombshells!

Kim here with a Fabulous Friday Tutorial!  Using the small Sugar Skull from the Sugar Skull Stamp Set, I created a necklace by up-cycling one of my old filigree earrings into a pendant.
The filigree component is actually from a pair of inexpensive earrings I've had for a while, but rarely ever wore.  So I took one of the earrings, removed the ear wire and up-cycled it into this fun lovely necklace.

Supplies:
Bombshell Stamps - Sugar Skull Stamp Set
Filigree Component
Vintaj Round Metal Blank - 34mm
Vintaj Patinas (Ranger Ink) - Onyx, Agate, Ruby
paintbrush
Staz-On Ink in Jet Black
Black embroidery floss
acrylic block
Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (by Inkadinkado)
metal hole punch (Vintaj)
double sided tape - removable
 chain, clasp and jump rings
jewelry pliers
fine tip Sharpie marker
non stick craft sheet (Ranger)

Here's a picture of the filigree component and round metal blank.  This filigree pendent is already black, but if yours isn't you can always paint it a different color with Vintaj Patinas.  The same technique can be used with any similar metal filigree blank as long as it's larger than your circle blank.

To make sure my stamp fit onto my metal blank, I traced the metal blank circle onto paper and stamped my image.
Next I placed double sided tape onto one side of the circle blank and placed it onto the filigree piece making sure the hole was lined up with an open space on the filigree.  (above left).  Then I flipped the piece over and used a Sharpie to mark where I wanted to punch 3 more holes. (above right).
Next I punched holes in the circle blank where I had marked them with the Sharpie.
I mixed the Onyx and Agate Vintaj Patinas together to make a light gray, painted one side of the circle blank and let it dry.
With the double sided tape still underneath the blank so it doesn't slide around, I stamped the sugar skull stamp using Staz-On ink and the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help me line everything up.  The stamp-a-ma-jig is great for this because if you hold it firmly enough and push the acrylic block against it, the stamp won't slide around the metal blank which is something I used to have such a problem with.
I used a small paintbrush and the Ruby Vintaj Patina to paint in the hearts.  I also painted around the edge of the circle with onyx (let it dry) and then a touch of ruby on top if it and let everything dry completely.  Once it was completely dry, I flipped it over and removed the double sided tape.  If you remove the tape and the blank is sticky you will need to clean it up. I was able to scrap the sticky residue off with my nail.  I then carefully painted a light coat of onyx patina onto the back of the blank and let it dry.
I used embroidery floss to attach and secure the sugar skull charm to the filigree component.  You can see the messy back of mine with the knot in the picture above.  I would have used thin black wire but didn't have any on hand. It's attached pretty well, but if you wish you can also attach it with a strong adhesive glue.
To complete the necklace I attached the pendant to some chain with a jump ring and added a clasp.

Have a Bombshell Craftin' Friday!
