Thank You Cards

Hi Bombshells!

Kim here, sharing two 'Thank You' cards I made using Panther Tattoo and Banner Sayings.

I am in love with Hero Arts Neon Inks so I stamped the Panther in neon blue ink and stamped it onto white glossy paper. I used neon green and orange washi tape for the bottom and stamped the Thank You banner in Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black).

For this simple card I used Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black with the Skull and Snake stamp and safety pin stamps from Panther Tattoo.  The banner again is from Banner Sayings. The stamps were colored in with Prisma colored pencils and the edges of the card inked with Colorbox Black ink.

Happy Friday to all of you!

Inspire your Heart with Art: Wacky Holiday

Greetings all! Alison here, with the latest installment of Bombshell's Wacky Holidays. I get all of my wacky holiday ideas from Holiday Insights...and this particular holiday really excited me. "Inspire Your Heart with Art" day. Here's what the website says about this day. And yeah...it's not actually today, but now you have time to prepare for it!

When : Always January 31st
Inspire Your Heart With Art Day celebrates art and the effect it can have on your heart. Art is valued and appreciated for all sorts of reasons.
Look at a piece of art and ask yourself: What is is telling me? How does it make me feel? What emotions is it evoking (if any) within me?
A sense of love and romance is one of those feelings and emotions that a piece of artwork can awaken and inspire. Looking to create a little romance with that special someone? Try setting the mood, with an appropriate piece of art.
While the title of this day suggests you inspire "your" heart, we're guessing you may use today to inspire someone else's heart...to romantic thoughts....of you. That's perfectly okay.

Here's what some of the Bombshell gals came up with.

Fabulous Friday Tutorial - Diamond Folded Card

Hello Marnie here with a Fabulous Friday Tutorial.
Begin with a piece of double sided patterned paper that measures 4" x 12"
 Score first at 2"
 Now Score at 10"
Fold each flap to the back
Unfold and find the center point(6") on both the top and the bottom.
Fold down one side lining it up with your pencil marks.
Repeat for the other side.  Flip your paper over and do repeat the last 2 steps for the opposite side of the paper.
These scores create an X through either side of the center square.  Fold in the two unscored sides in to the center to of each side.  Score each of these with a bone folder.

This will create an envelope look on each side of the card.
Notice mine is a little cracked on the edges.   I trimmed off some of the cracked edges at the end and inked them all up so they looked neat.  Some patterned paper will crack and some won't but if you know how to fix it.  It is not a problem for the end product.
And a Pop Up Diamond in the Center.

Now all you have to do is embellish with a Bombshell stamp, some ink and patterned paper.

In this card I have used the Lotus Garden stamp set.  Colored the image with Copic Markers and then added some glitter to the image.  I have inked the edges of the piece that was die cut with Labels 15 from Spellbinders.  Which was also used to cut out a piece to put on the square with coordinating cardstock.  Also used was Labels 5 cut in half and put on either side of the image.  The coordinating cardstock behind each side measure 2" x 4 1/4" this give the card a sturdy base.

This piece will fold and fit into an A2 envelope when you are done.
Hope you get a chance to try this fun fold for your next project.

The Bluebird of Happiness...

Sharon aka Ms October here today sharing a mini journal page I have just completed using an image from the Love & Luck Rubber Stamp Set - my newest Bombshell Stamps set!

My page was inspired by the weekly Journal 52 "prompts" for 2014. "Up, Up & Away" was the prompt for Week 1 - so I thought this gorgeous "Bluebird" was perfect for my page.

Background was decorated with acrylic paints, stencils and some sponging. I actually hand wrote the wording - a big achievement for me!

Hope everyone is having a very creative 2014 so far!

Stickle me this!!!!

Howdy all! It is Friday and that means Fabulous Friday Tutorial Time! I have been PULLING out all my Stickles and having fun with them. I know a lot of people have bunches and bunches of Stickles - Like I do - but rarely pull them out (ehem - Kathi). I have even gotten mine out so much recently that I re-organized and hung them upside down from my cabinets so I can see them.

The thing I like about Stickles - they are all glittery goodness... but the glue part is clear - allowing you to put the Stickles on as thickly or as thinly as needed to create all sorts of goodness. This way you can allow the coloring underneath to shine through.

The first image above, is Madonna Woodcut all colored in pretty blues, yellows and purples. The Stars are the only open spot on here. No color there - So the first thing I did was to add silver Stickles to the stars.

You can see that more close up here.
But wait - that is just big globs. So in the next step, over the "suns rays" where I have graduated color, I wanted a little but of sparkle, but not overshadowing. I could have done this with a Stardust pen, but this is where the Stickles are so good. Because they are colored glitter - you can get it and add it and spread it out.

I have used it with a paintbrush, but for things like this - these tight spaces - I use a straight pin.

For this image I then highlighted the dark purple areas with the purple stickles. Again, I wanted the purple area I colored to show through, but I wanted to add some depth to the dark areas.

As a final step - I took mermaid stickles and outlined the darker blue areas of the image with them.

Once done, you can see the different colored glitters, but still see the lovely sparkly sprinkly on top.

So we have covered edging and spreading and highlighting. How about just plain old coloring?

For this tag below I took some little hats from Calaveras Fiesta and the cherries from Cherry Bomb and colored them completely with Stickles. Once they were dry, I cut them out, and made my own little embellishments. Specifically colored the way I wanted. Not only are they textured - but they are also really sparkly!

Once everything was applied I used my Black Stickles to outline the To and the From, and to add sparkle to the dots on the edging.

I hope that this encourages you to pull out your poor neglected Stickles or other glitter glue and have some fun!!!!

Custom Envelope

The envelope punch board is all the rage these days, but I've been making custom size envelopes for ages.   The punch board makes the triangle tipped envelopes.   Here's a way to make square/rectangle flap envelopes and you can make them just about any size you'd like.

For this envelope I chose to make a large square flap "save" envelope.  It can also be used as a gift card envelope or even a gift card itself.

First step is figuring out what size envelope I want.   So I measured a bill, added some wiggle room and decided I wanted an 3"x7" envelope.

So I drew a sketch to help show the size.   I added half an inch on each side.  The bottom flap that becomes the pocket of the envelope is roughly 2/3 the size of the envelope.   Since I'm making an envelope 3" tall, that flap is going to be 2".   Normally I'd make the fold over flap large enough for a 1/2 inch overlap, but in this case I want the fold over flap the same size as the card - that is 3".  Total size paper for my envelope is 8"x8"

Time to score my creases.
I scored half an inch on the two sides.

Then I scored at 2 inches for my fold up flap that forms the pocket of my 3x7 envelope.   The envelope is 3 inches tall, so my next score line is at 5 inches (2" + 3" = 5").  The remainder of the paper is for the fold over flap.

Crease all of the score lines with a bone folder and then trim off  the sections as shown.  You'll want to leave flaps on the center segment to construct the envelope.

Add adhesive to the flap that will fold up to form the pocket.   I used a Score Tape type of adhesive that gives me a solid bond.

Voila!  I've made an envelope just the right size to hold some money.

Here's a quick picture of it folded closed with the large flap.  Remember I made it the same size as the envelope on purpose.

Now to decorate the envelope.  I just wanted a motorcycle stamped on the flap.  I used Bombshell Stamps Harley Bikes.   It doesn't look like much as I first stamped it since I have such a busy background.   So time to get busy with some of my Copic markers.   And in case you're curious, the print is from 7 Gypsies.

And the finished product.   This will be a great envelope to stash away a bit of cash for that next treat or trip that I'm saving for.
