Fabulous Friday Tutorial - Versa Pan Technique

Good Morning,  Marnie here with a tutorial using Pan Pastels and Versamark Ink.  I love how versatile the Pan Pastels are and how vibrant the color.  For this tutorial I am using the Bombshell Stamp Sets Holiday Accessories and Tattoo Backgrounds.  I adore the Halloween images in both of these.  I also have some papers to match my pastels and a soft brush.

First stamp the spider web from Tattoo Backgrounds onto white with Versamark Ink.

Gently brush the Pastel over the web and it will magically appear.

Isn't it super cool looking?  With a tissue or soft cloth brush the excess chalk off.

Next stamp the spider from the Tattoo Backgrounds on top of the Web and brush the pastels over it.

I love how it pops up!  Don't forget to brush away the excess with a soft cloth or tissue.

For the background stamp the bats from Holiday Accessories onto the background paper.  And brush the pastels over it.  Brush away the excess pastels again.  You can set your pastels with a fixative.  Now cut the pieces and layer onto the card.

August Color Challenge

It's time for the next Bombshell Stamps Color Challenge! This month, like all of the others, the color palette is from Design Seeds.

To play, you need to use at least 3 of the colors from the palette (the more the merrier, though!), and you can only use black, white, and skin tones additionally. I can see many, many of Bombshell's great projects working for this set of colors, can't you? Here's what the DT came up with.

Leather Bombshell Banner Necklace Tutorial

Hey Bombshells!

Using a thin piece of scrap leather, I created a Bombshell Banner Necklace. 

Supplies:

- Bombshell Stamps - Stewed, Screwed & Tattooed! Banner Stamp from Tattoo Background

- black leather scraps

- Tsukineko Brilliance Archival Pigment Ink Pad in Moonlight White

- Mod Podge and 1 inch Sponge Brush

- fabric scissors

- 1.5mm Short Jaw Hole Punch Plier (mine are by Vintaj)

- small clear acrylic/plastic (optional - but you can use old plastic packaging)

- jump rings, beads, wire, chain, clasp

- jewelry pliers (round nose, chain nose, flat nose, and wire cutters)

- embossing heat tool

First, stamp the banner stamp onto the black leather scrap with Tsukineko Brilliance Archival Pigment Ink Pad in Moonlight White.

Next, using an embossing heat tool, carefully dry the ink and heat set it. Make sure not to burn the leather or keep the heat tool in one spot for too long.

Using fabric scissors, cut the stamped image out leaving a black border.

Create holes on the top sides of the leather banner with hole punch pliers, making sure not to punch a hole too close to the edge. I first punch a clear acrylic scrap (which is really just recycled clear packaging from embossing folders) and then the leather, so the hole punch does not leave an indentation in the leather. (I use the same method when punching holes in metal as well.)

After both holes have been punched, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge (from left to right) with a 1 inch sponge brush to lightly seal the ink. At first it will look like the ink smeared, but if the coat is light enough (and was dried well before coating) the ink is usually fine when it is dry. Note: I only mod-podged the top of the banner because the back of this piece of leather is soft so I don't mind it touching my skin. If yours is rough underneath you may want to back it with a soft piece of felt or fabric.

After the leather banner has completely dried, attach your jump rings, wire looped beads, chain, and clasps to finish the necklace off.

I can't wait to make more of these with some of the other banner stamps!

Bombshell Stamps Fabulous Friday Tutorial - Washi Tape

 Hello Hello, Marnie here!  I love creating my own Washi Tape and the Bombshell Stamps make the perfect tools to create coordinating tape to go with any of our stamp sets.  With some colorful tissue paper, stamps, permanent ink and a sticker maker you can make your own as well.

First stamp each strip of tissue with any of the stamps you choose.  Here I am using the star from Tattoo Backgrounds on pink tissue paper.

Also stamp the star background from the same set (Tattoo Backgrounds) and stamped the yellow tissue paper.

 Then stamp the crown onto the turquoise tissue paper from Butterfly Queen.

 Now run each strip of tissue paper through the Xyron sticker maker or cover the back of each piece with a dry adhesive.

 Take a butterfly from Butterfly Queen and stamp and color the image.  I did fussy cut it out so I can bend the wings up later.

 Cut down each strip to fit onto the card front and punch a fishtail on each end with a square punch.

 I layered the strips onto the card and added the butterfly.  I then used a Thank You sticker as a greeting.  I hope you love creating your own Washi Tape to embellish your cards.

Basic Bargello Background Tutorial

Hello Marnie here!  With a fun background technique to use up all those paper scraps.

Basic Bargello is fun and easy to do and creates a very impressive background or even focal point for a project.   All you need are some paper scraps (smaller print backgrounds work best) in colors you want to use for your finished project.  Some paper to layer on a paper trimmer and some really good adhesive.

First you want to start with your paper scraps and cut them into ¼” strips.  You could even do a little wider to modify your design.

Now that you have your strips you want to cover one layering sheet in adhesive.  And I mean REALLY cover it.  When you think you have enough adhesive on there add some more.  If you have a Xyron or other adhesive that lays down in sheets that will work really well.  After the adhesive is on, start laying down your strips in a pattern.  Put them as close together as possible.  Continue with the pattern until your paper is completely covered.

Trim away the strips hanging over the edge.

Now turn this piece 90 degrees to the right and trim it into ¼” strips.  Set out your strips in the order that you cut them as you cut them.  This is especially important if you are using paper with a pattern.

Cover another piece of layering paper with adhesive and begin laying down your strips in the order that you cut them.  Each time you set down a piece shift it over about 1/8” of an inch.  The larger the shift the more spikey your patter the less you shift you will get subtle waves.  After you go in one direction for awhile start to shift the pieces in the other to give the pattern your creating movement.

Once you’ve covered the entire piece of layering paper or run out of strips trim away the excess and cut your piece to it’s finished size.  Consider cutting it into a fun shape pattern or die cut.   Add the piece to your project and enjoy.

For the focal imagine on this card I have used Tattoo Background and a little black satin ribbon.

Halloween is coming,so I am happy to get my skull stamps out!

 ( I use it all year,but this time of the year people do not wonder....)

Materials used:

Card stock, Distress ink,Versafine Only black ink, Perfect Pearls,white gel pen and a sewing machine.

The background is difficult to see on a picture,so I took another picture and tilted the card a bit.
