Stempelientje's computer is down for repairs, but she's still crafting!

She hasn't been completely cut off from the Interwebs, thanks to a smart phone and/or visiting friends and using their 'puters.

Time's running out! Bombshell Stamps Guest Design Team Call!

Time is running out! Bombshell Stamps is looking for our next six Guest Designers, aka Pin-ups. If you love Bombshell's stamps, walk on the edgier or vintage side of paper crafting, and have great coloring skills, please apply!

Each Pin-up serves for one month during which s/he receives a free set of stamps, a generous discount to Bombshell's store, is featured on Bombshell Stamps' website and blog, sets our monthly challenge, and shares four (4) itmes (cards, scrapbook layouts, altered art). Participation thoruhout the next six month term (October through March) is actively encouraged.

Playing along with Ms September's Challenge!

Ms September, Jenn Cochran issued a 'Layer It Up' challenge to use at least three layers, paper, paint ink, ribbon etc on our Bombshell project!

I was inspired by Jenn's challenge to create an altered art project with a tinned fish tin!!
After washing the pilchard tin a few times to ensure it was thoroughly clean I painted the tin with acrylic paint and patterned paper and lined the inside with patterned paper.
For the front of the tin I used a Decorative Label Eight Spellbinder die cut in blue paper which I then cut an oval in the middle of- I stuck this to the front of the tin.

I used a small butterfly and the sentiment from Butterfly Dreams & the Moth from Butterfly Queen- stamping them and colouring them with Distress Inks and Distress Markers for a soft look.
I cut out the two butterflies and mounted them on foam tape and stuck them in the tin.
I added a pin to each butterfly like the old fashioned butterfly collections.

I added some leaf ribbon, pearls and Stickles glitter plus I stamped the 'Butterfly Dreams' sentiment onto kraft cardstock and added this to the front of my butterfly tin.

Fabulous Friday Tutorial -"Using Scraps"

Hi Everyone - Sharon aka Ms June here with a quick and easy tutorial for using scraps of paper.

LOL my last tutorial was using old book pages - you may be able to tell that I have a "hoarding" problem and find it very difficult to throw away even the smallest scrap of paper!

So today my little tutorial shows a quick and simple but effective way to use off cuts of patterned and plain papers of any sort.

I am demonstrating making an ATC for this tutorial.

Firstly I prefer to use double sided JAC paper for doing this as it makes it super quick to get done but don't worry if you don't have any just cut a piece of card to the size you want and have a glue stick handy!

I have cut my JAC paper to just smaller than an ATC. Peel off one side of the paper and you are ready to start.

Tear strips of your scraps of paper (tearing is quick and you don't have to be perfect!!) - any width sizing - they don't all have to be the same - I try to use co-ordinating colours & patterns - but this is entirely personal choice and dependent upon what you are creating!

Layer the strips so that they each overlap the other and as you can see don't worry at this stage about the overhanging bits. If you are using card and a glue stick just keep adding glue to your card for each strip of paper - it doesn't matter if not all of the strip is stuck down - that just adds more texture and dimension to it.

Once your base piece is covered trim the edges back to your original size as shown below - now it looks much neater and you can see the great effect.

I then used a corner punch to give the corners a softer look, peeled off the backing paper and stuck it onto my base ATC card in a solid co-ordinating colour. I then coloured a great image from Bombshell Stamps from the Indian Princess Set, fussy cut it, put a piece of muslin behind it and glued to the top of my ATC. I added some little tile letters to finish it off along with some beaded braid.

And here is a banner I made for a recent Bombshell Blog Hop which shows some more of these torn strips being used as a background - I always love the effect from doing this and it's a great way to use my papers!

Ms. September's Challenge!

Jenn Cochran, Bombshell's Ms. September, has issued a "Layer It Up" challenge. Use at least three layers of paper, paint, ink, ribbon, etc. to create your Bombshell project.

Here are 5 layers piled on nice and neat...  a striped stamped card base, an embossed white layer, a teal mat, another background stamped layer in coral, and then that wicked devil from Bombshell Stamps' Cherry Bomb set.

Here's a shot from the side so you can really see the layered dimension.  Two sets of layers are adhered using some dimensional adhesive for even more pop.  

 Alaine has a whopping 8 layers in one little area under the bow. :-) She used Peek-A-Boo Geisha.

Meet Ms. September!

Jenn Cochran is Bombshell's Ms. September! Her cards feature lots of layers, clean lines, and her wonderful coloring!

1. Brief info about yourself, including your name, where you live, your family (if you want), etc.
My name is Jenn.  I live on the western slope of Colorado. I have a 7 year old little boy-Bean, and a 2yr old Black Lab-Buck.  I work for a local bank running their fraud department from my home.   I have been crafting since I was a little girl...a long time!

2. How long have you been stamping and/or crafting?
I have been crafting since I was a little girl...a long time!

3. What are your favorite Bombshell sets and why?
My Favorite Bombshell stamp set: Hula Girl.  I love the "old Hawaii" style of the set!

4. What kind of projects do you like to do?
My favorite projects are cards.

5. What are your favorite coloring mediums?
Love coloring!  Can't live without my Copics!

6. Describe your crafting "style".
My style is fun, trendy, colorful.

7. Describe your crafting process. Do you start with a stamp set? A sketch? A technique you want to use?
My crafting process starts with the stamp.  Then I move to the paper.  I always choose what designer paper I will be using and color the image based on the colors of the designer paper. Then I come up with a layout and finally embellish the card.

8. Do you have any other hobbies?
I am a trained Chef and I LOVE to cook!!!

9. Free for all including little facts, etc. about you.
I have naturally curly hair, most of the time I have paint or ink under my fingernails and on my hands, I spend summers in Florida, I wear sandals in the winter (yes in the snow!), and I LOVE police/detective shows.
